Founded in March of 2021, the tasting house for Heart River Spirits sits tucked away in a strip mall off of South 3rd St in Bismarck. Just a few blocks from the bustling downtown Big Dog Tiki Bar offers it’s guests an island escape in the snowy Midwest of North Dakota. Not only is Big Dog Tiki Bar unique in atmosphere and concept, it’s also host to a lot of really interesting and different events. Big Dog Tiki Bar isn’t just your average island getaway—it’s one of only five tiki bars in the U.S. that distills its own rum on site. That’s right, our tropical cocktails are built with handcrafted, small-batch rum straight from our stills at Big Dog Distillery. From coconut to spiced, every pour is pure North Dakota-crafted magic made mere feet away.

With the release of our brand new bourbon, Painted Canyon and the release of Dog Water the year prior, we decided to update our menus. You can expect a whole new menu experience, this time broken down by product! There will be new additions to our assortment of tiki drinks such as a blended Hurricane, or the addition of the fan favorite rum old fashioned to the menu listed under Nelson’s Blood, a hat tip to a legend from sailing history.

I'm excited to announce there's going to be a new experience at Big Dog Tiki Bar. It's called the Tasting Tour and it's unlike any other distillery tour you've seen before. When you arrive, you'll get to choose three of a total of five products from the Heart River Spirits line and then we'll take you on a tour behind the scenes where you can sample them and learn all about them.
